Angels of Change:
Leaders Academy
Angels of Change: Leaders Academy spans across approximately two years.
Phase 1: Building Community & Resiliency will be conducted in approximately four-hour sessions, held twice a month in person at the TransLatin@ Coalition offices in Koreatown. Cohort 1 will start in September and meet on Mondays from 1 PM to 5 PM. Cohort 2 will begin in March 2026, also meeting on Mondays from 1 PM to 5 PM(with some exceptions where we will meet on Wednesdays due to Holidays).
Yes! All of your participation is paid with a stipend. Participants can earn up to $1,500 in stipends if they participate and complete phase one. Participants can also earn stipends for participating in public comment opportunities.
This opportunity is for any transgender, gender-expansive, or intersex identifying person who is interested in leveling up their skills as a community organizer, and looking for hands-on experience with coordinating a local advocacy campaign with Los Angeles County governance.
Yes! All participants who complete the program requirements for graduation will receive a personalized certificate of completion.
While this program is paid, it is not a job position. Angels of Change: Leaders Academy is considered a fellowship because it allows participants to gain education and professional development in leadership, research, campaign planning, and community organizing while being paid.
No! Angels of Change: Leaders Academy is open to TGI people of all education levels and professional experiences. In fact, we prioritize TGI people who have lived experience with housing insecurity in Los Angeles County because we consider this lived experience to be expertise in creating meaningful and impactful advocacy for increasing TGI housing resources.
Angels of Change: Leaders Academy will be held in English and Spanish. We have interpretation services for those who need them.
Participants are encouraged to fully engage with the entire program. While participants are not expected to have perfect attendance, they are encouraged to make up for the sessions they cannot attend.
